Update on funding awarded
This is a to date presented to Transport and Environment Committee in January 2022.
Households and businesses
- Transport Scotland has provided over £1.5 million in LEZ support funds to promote shifting from one type of transport to greener transport and to reduce emissions.
- This funding was given to over 450 micro-businesses and low-income households located within 20 kilometres of the scheme.
Buses, coaches and taxis
- is committed to achieving 100% of its vehicles complying with the LEZ emission standards in 2022. They have received significant support from the
- In 2021 / 22 Transport Scotland provided over £2.7 million to retrofit buses and coaches that operate in ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½, through phase four of BEAR funds.
- All licensed taxis and private hire cars operating in ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ are anticipated to comply with the LEZ emission standards ahead of enforcement.
Public transport provision
By early 2020, Transport Scotland provided £3.7 million across the region to support ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ and other Councils to develop sustainable transport projects and prepare for LEZs. This included
- developing a mobility hub at Brunton Hall, including eletric vehicles chargers
- park and rides
- bus shelters
- bus prioritisation measures
- bus lane enforcement cameras.
