Liberton and Gilmerton

The total available for Liberton and Gilmerton Community Grants Fund (CGF) in 2024/25 is £26,451.

Liberton / Gilmerton neighbourhood has no funding left for 2024/25. The next application deadline for these neighbourhoods will be in spring 2025.

Awards made in Round 1 (2024-25)

  • 天美传媒 South Cricket Club:  £2,376 (partial award) to develop cricket coaching for girls ages 8 to 11.
  • Volunteering Matters: £365 to develop volunteers to work with families experiencing hardship.
  • Bethany Christian Trust: £1,980 to support a woman’s reading group aimed at attendees for whom English is a second language.
  • Inch Park Community Sports Hub: £3,940 to support an activity programme for young people aimed at reducing isolation.
  • The Liberton Association: £450 (partial award) for resources and materials to promote the group and local history of the area.
  • Goodtrees Neighbourhood Centre: £2,050 to support intergenerational activities for families and young people at Christmas.
  • Gracemount Mansion Development Trust: £3,060 to provide office and kitchen equipment for the mansion building.
  • Gilmerton Community Centre: £3,280 to support a community garden project.
  • Bridgend Farmhouse: £1,210 (partial award) to support cost of living advice sessions and community meals.
  • Inch Community Association: £3,960 to support a programme of support and activities for older people at risk of isolation.
  • Gracemount Community Church: £3,375 (partial award) to set up a ‘far from home’ project
  • 天美传媒 Rays Baseball: £405 (partial award) to provide equipment for a new community baseball team

How we assess applications 

We check each CGF application for eligibility and will get back to you if any information is missing or unclear. 

Local funding panels meet to consider all eligible applications. The panels typically consist of ward councillors, community councillors and representatives from local community organisations. They look for evidence of how the project will benefit the local community, as well as accurate costings. 

They may recommend to: 

  • fully fund the project 

  • offer partial funding (provided the project can still be delivered) 

  • decline to recommend an award. 

Occasionally the panel will defer an application to gather further information. Recommendations from panels are then considered by the Head of Service for Community Empowerment and Engagement. If your request for funding is approved, you will be sent the formal funding agreement papers to complete. The whole process from applying to being paid a grant usually takes around 3-4 months, but sometimes it can be longer.
