Pay awards

Learning and Teaching

Updated 16 December 2024

National pay awards are negotiated between CoSLA (Convention of Scottish Local Authorities) and Trades Unions on an annual basis. Pay awards are now applied from 1 August for Learning and Teaching colleagues. Where pay awards are agreed after this date, the changes to pay will be back-dated to 1 August 2024.

2024 to 2025 pay award

CoSLA and Trade Unions have agreed the 2024 to 2025 pay award for Learning and Teaching groups (Teachers, QIOs, Instructors, Educational Psychologists, and Education Support Officers) across Scotland.

The agreed pay award is an uplift of 4.27% and covers the period 1 August 2024 to 31 July 2025.

Due to the timing of the agreement being reached and signed-off nationally, and our local commitment to launch our new HR and Payroll system in October, it means that you should receive your pay increase, in full, with your November salary. Colleagues in scope should receive their back-pay on Thursday 28 November 2024.

We’d like to thank you in advance for your patience in awaiting the delivery of the pay award in November.

Further information

Payslip guidance is included in the information guide, and we ask that you refer to this information in the first instance if you have any queries about the content of your November 2024 payslip.

Organisation leavers

Leavers in November 2024

You should have received any back-pay due to you in your final pay on Thursday 28 November 2024.

Leavers between August and October 2024

  • Organisation leavers are in scope for back-dated pay awards, subject to recovery of any outstanding overpayments.
  • The claims process for leavers closed on 6 December 2024.
  • We aim to make payment to leavers who submitted a request for payment on Thursday 30 January 2025.
  • We'll also update the Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA), where applicable, and aim to complete this by Wednesday 30 April 2025.
