Motorcycle parking permits

If you own a motorcycle and live in the controlled parking zone, you can apply for a free residents' permit to park in permit holder parking places in your zone.

Coaches

You can find coach parking on Regent Road and Inverleith Place, costs are £8.80 per hour. In Regent Road controls operate from 8.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday and Sundays 12.30pm to 6.30pm. In Inverleith Place controls operate Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm.

Coaches cannot park in pay and display bays. You can also use to pay for coach parking.

Coach drop-off bays are available on Castle Terrace.

Minibuses

If your vehicle holds 12 or less people and can fit in a normal parking bay then you can park in public parking spaces.

Long and large vehicles

Vehicles should fit their wheels within the markings of the bay they are parked in otherwise they may receive a parking ticket. If the wheels do not fit then drivers should consider using a yellow line for loading and loading activities that will take 30 minutes or less. If more time is needed you can apply for a dispensation.

Private off street car parks are also available.

It is only in zones 1 to 4 that the bays are individually marked, in all other zones they are not. This means long/large vehicles can park fully in bays in zone 5 to 8 and those with the prefix S, N and B.

Trades permits can be used for parking free of charge in public parking and shared use parking places without any time restriction and in residents’ parking places between the hours of 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Saturday and 12.30pm to 4.30pm on Sundays in all of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s controlled parking zones.

Caravans and trailers

There are no spaces in the city centre for vehicles with caravans or trailers. A parking ticket can be issued to vehicles parking in public parking places whilst towing a trailer.

Idling vehicles

If you turn your engine off while your vehicle is not moving you will help to make ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ a healthier, cleaner city. Street Enforcement Officers can issue or report a driver to the Procurator Fiscal if they don't switch off their engine when asked to.
