Every library hosts regular Bookbug sessions. These are free, fun-filled times of stories, songs and rhymes for children aged 0 to 4 years and their parents or carers.

Bookbug's library challenge
Pick up your free Bookbug library challenge collector card from a library. Children collect stickers as they borrow books. After collecting six stickers your child gets a colourful certificate designed by a children's book illustrator. The more books they borrow, the more certificates they get.
Bookbug bags
Bookbug bags are a Scottish Government initiative, delivered through the Scottish Book Trust and councils.
You receive four bags for free. Each bag contains 3 books, goodies and information on how to play and sing with your child and how to join the library.
Your
- health visitor gives you Bookbug Baby in your baby’s first year
- health visitor gives you Bookbug Toddler when your child is between 1 and 2 years old
- early years setting gives you Bookbug Explorer when your child is 3 years old
- primary schools give you Bookbug P1 Family Bag.
You can request all four bags in Gaelic.
If you have missed a bag you can ask for one at the library.
