Remove all defunct Statutory Repair Notices - Petitions (Invalid)
Petition details
ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Council is maintaining a list of Statutory repair notices which people need to find pay £50 to find out the details of as part of buying and selling a property. The problem is, you have to pay even if the notice is no longer active. ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Council need to wipe the old notices and refund anyone who has had to pay and find out the notice is no longer active.
The notice that affected my sale was 19 years old and had already been paid by a previous owner. Meaning the council got the money for the repair and an extra £50 to find out about it. Not to mention whoever buys our flat will still be liable for £50 when they sell!
This affects every person in my tenement and there must be countless cases across the city.
