Save the House Concerts at no 42 Royal Park Terrace - Petitions (Invalid)
Petition details
We call upon councillors to instruct planning officers to remove the threat of enforcement action to stop our private house concerts.A single complainant initiated the investigation. We have subsequently reduced the frequency of concerts and kept a tighter control of noise levels regarding music and our guests coming and going.
We believe that a mediator would likely find that the original complainant is now content with the situation. However planning officials flaunt Scottish Government guidelines by refusing to consider mediation.
100% of donations go directly to the musicians, we do not advertise publicly, and we sell neither alcohol nor anything else. As such it seems absurd to be labelled "commercial".
House concerts are an accepted and firmly established aspect of the North American music scene, the "salons" of central Europe hosted Mozart's first concerts, and in Scotland the tradition goes back beyond the chamber concerts and readings of the Scottish Enlightenment to the ancient "ceilidh house" tradition.
We fully accept that there are laws governing environmental noise and are very willing to comply with these as should any other private event.
Many hundreds of our supporters have called upon councillors to support us. If we live in a democracy their views should surely be considered.
Our concerts are seen by many as a welcome addition to the cultural life of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ and a lifeline to the struggling musicians who perform for us.
We vote for councillors, not planners, to control our lives.
