ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½'s net zero target

A net zero, climate ready ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ by 2030

We have set an ambitious target for ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ to become a net zero city by 2030. This means that by 2030, we want remove the same amount of greenhouse gases that we, as a city, put into the air.

Our 2030 target recognises the need for ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ to play its part in helping to deliver on national goals to reduce emission. And that cities will need to make faster progress on reducing greenhouse gas emissions if Scotland is to meet its national 2045 net zero target.

By cutting ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s emissions, we are contributing to worldwide efforts to make sure that global warming stays below 1.5C. This is the upmost limit for global temperature rise, identified by the , if the planet is to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s climate targets are key to achieving a more sustainable city. Climate and the environment were also . This is where we asked people about their hopes and wishes for the future of the city.

Our longer-term vision for a greener, cleaner, fairer ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ will only be possible through working with others. With people from across the city, across the council and across our partners.

There is a lot that we need to do to deliver a net zero, climate ready capital. But our focus will always be on making ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ a better place to live, work and visit.
