How we can help promote your business community during construction
We can work with your business community to keep attracting people to the area by letting them know that you are still open for business, supporting your local events and organising local activities.
We can help you with your plans
If you’re organising any events with your fellow business owners to encourage footfall to the area, such as shopping or food and drink events, let us know. We can support with promotion, print and producing materials. We can also work with you to develop any ideas you have.
Events we could plan
Throughout construction projects, we like to plan a number of events in the local area to encourage people to visit the area. This can include
- free bike maintencance sessions
- free cargo bike and electric bike trials
- led walks
- working with local schools
- hosting information sessions with the local groups and organisations.
We would be delighted to work with you on these to give all businesses as much profile as possible. We will let you know how you can contact us as part of the pre-construction briefings.
Promotional materials
If you would like fliers or vouchers which could be distributed around the local community and businesses, we can help with production, print and distribution. If you would like to include incentives or competitions, we could discuss a contribution towards these.
On street advertising
We are able to produce mesh banners for the construction site fencing and lamppost wraps to highlight that you’re open for business.
Please note that while we are not able to directly promote individual businesses, we can promote the whole street/area with general messages and discuss a way that we could highlight what the wider area has to offer.
Online promotion
We will run regular social media to encourage people to visit the area.
We also use the Nextdoor App () to target the local community and surrounding communities.
When construction ends
We will continue to promote improvements in your local area once construction ends. Depending on the project, this could include a launch event or support for a community event.
We will also look to encourage more people to use the new infrastructure and visit your local area as part of our wider ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ to encourage more people to walk, wheel or cycle on new infrastructure.
Compensation
We appreciate that construction projects are disruptive. At a meeting of the City of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Council on 15 December 2022, councillors agreed that no compensation scheme would be for transport infrastructure schemes. You can read the and of this meeting. But we will do all we can to keep disruption and inconvenience to a minimum and support you where we can.
Ultimately, the project will deliver significant benefits to the area, creating a more welcoming environment to spend time in, that is easier to walk, wheel and cycle to, and get to by public transport.
