New travel tracker system
We are in the process of rolling out a new travel tracker system which uses full colour screens which are easier to read. We will be able to display real-time departure information for multiple transport operators on the new system. This will include
- all local bus providers
- ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ Trams
- linking to information in neighbouring councils.
As at mid-November 2023, we have replaced 190 out of 330 on-street signs.
Since the project started, we have been working closely with Lothian Buses, and will continue to do so as they introduce their new real-time bus information system.
In the meantime, the new full colour screens are displaying Lothian’s timetabled bus times only, but you can check real-time information using the . We’re sorry for the inconvenience this is causing, but look forward to the benefits once the full rollout is complete next year.
Other bus operators’ information displayed on the screens is in real-time.
Benefits of the new system
- Real-time departure information displayed for multiple travel operators including
- bus
- tram
- in some locations rail and air travel.
- More detailed information on easier to read full colour screens
- The information from the new system will be used by neighbouring councils. This means travel information is consistent throughout the region.
- Screens can be used to advertise public information messages such as travel disruption or emergency messages.
