Choosing a font
An accessible font does not slow down reading speed. It is easy to read for people with a reading disability or low vision. The right font improves legibility and readability of your document for everyone.
Some things to avoid
- Using block capitals or italics as these can make your copy harder to read.
- Underlining text as these can be mistaken for hyperlinks by colourblind or low vision individuals.
A text size of 12 point of higher will benefit most users. The Council uses the font Verdana for online publishing for accessibility and legibility reasons. Arial is our font for Word documents.
